In a few months I turn 40. One of those big milestone birthdays. Over the past couple of days I have been reflecting on this and what I have achieved or not achieved in the last 10 years.

When I turned 30 I wrote a little book about my first thirty years. I am going to share some of it with you. Here is an excerpt. This was the introduction I wrote.

The Intro

Welcome, to the first 30 years of my life. Wow, what a 30 years it has been. Three decades!!!! I discoed through the
70’s, breakdanced my way through the 80’s and slept my way through most of the 90’s. LOL. Things have changed a lot in these three decades ard so have i just check out the picture section. Can you believe some of those pictures???? I can’t!!!
Just in my life time I have seen the advent of computers from the Amstrad and the Commodore 64 to what they are
today I remember having cassettes and LPs most of which I still have. Our first video player didn’t have a infrared remote control it had this 3 metre cord connected to player. We were forever tripping over it. Microwaves were these big, huge contraptions. My mother wouldn’t even let us stay in the same room because she thought we would get radiation poisoning. Mobile phones had these big battery packs you had to carry around with you. So, they weren’t really mobile.
So, I have put together alittie book highlighting some of my life so far. Please remember this a work in progress.
Over the next year I will be adding things as I think of them. This is just the start of chronicling my life for future generations to read!!!!

As this is the year of Q150 and Brisbane is celebrating it this weekend. I got to thinking about things I miss about Brisbane. Here is a list of some of the things I miss.

The Coles Cafe in Queen Street
MacDonalds in Broadway foodcourt

The Cinema where the NAB is now in Queen Street Mall

A confession

I have a confession to make. I have become addicted to Neighbours. After watching Jane Hall on the 7pm Project I decided to give Neighbours another go. Twenty years ago when Scott and Charelene were front and centre I was a mad fan of this show.

As time went on and my life moved on I left Neighbours. Occassionly I tired to come back to it but no characters or storylines grabbed my attention.

What bought me back? Well it was Jane Hall. I love her. I loved her on All together now, Henderson Kids and anything else she has been on.

Momentum

About five weeks ago I joined the gym. This was going to be the start of a new me. I did all the right things - 4 to 5 times a week and sessions with a personal trainer -I had some great momentum going. It was all going great. I was really enjoying it and I was starting to see some change in my appearance. My goal was to tone up and loose my big fat GUT but then something happened.........

I got a cold and for the last two weeks have been feeling so unwell. The last two days I have been vomiting and sleeping, sleeping and vomiting and watching heaps of 111 HITS shows on Foxtel(in an ideal world I would love that but not while I have been sick).

Now I feel that I have lost the habit I was forming in going to the gym. I just want to get back into that gym routine. It was fun and I was feeling good about myself and lets' face it guys the gym in one great perving session. I think I may have permanently dislodged my neck from looking around at all the hot guys.

Anyway, I just want to get better and get back into the routine. It is so frustrating when you start something with great intentions and then life comes and throws you a giant curve ball. Such a bummer!!!! :(

End of an era

It is only 5 weeks to go until end of term.

5 weeks until I move.
5 weeks until I go to Melbourne.
5 weeks until I leave my old school.
5 weeks until I leave my old apartment and move into a new one.
5 weeks until I start my new exercise routine.
5 weeks until I get to start a new.

I am so looking forward to all this. In the meantime I have 5 weeks to organise myself for my new move. I am getting closer to decluttering my teacher resources. It is taking time scanning all this stuff but it is so going to be worth it.

I then want to move onto my clothes and kitchen stuff. I have organised a bookcase full of CDs into 3 cd cases.

I totally love this movie. It has just been replayed on TV1 and everytime I hear the Oh Yeah song it reminds me of this fantastic movie.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a 1986 comedy film written and directed by John Hughes. It stars Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jeffrey Jones and Jennifer Grey. The film was released by Paramount Pictures on June 11, 1986.

Brunswick Street

Street scene showing the intersection of Brunswick Street and Wickham Street. There are buildings on both sides of the street and horsedrawn vehicles travelling through both streets. A Brisbane Tram is turning the corner and people are strolling in the streets. Small children are standing under the verandah of a shop ca 1905.

It would be interesting to calculate how many times I waited for a bus on Brunswick Street only to be frustrated and start to walk to my destination. Then three buses will pass me by or how many times I have walked up and down this iconic street.

I have walked up on hot days, cold days, windy days and rainy days. I have walked early, evening and late at night. Walked coming home from my Sizzler job or in the days when I went clubbing or 'playing' at the Den.

I have seen this street in all kinds of incarnations and times of day. Brunswick Street has changed and stayed the same. I remember walking home from my night fill job at Coles at midnight and the 'pros' saying hi and asking how was your night.

You see a lot of interesting people a you walk up and down this street. People going to work, people doing the one night stand walk of shame home, homeless people, students. The list goes on and on.

A dream

One of my biggest dreams is to own a little slice of New Farm. I have lived and rented in New Farm for so many years and I so love that suburb. One of the things I love is the accessability of New Farm.

While surfing through http://www.realestate.com.au/ I game across this little gem.

It is an art deco apartment which is so the type of apartment I would love to own.

I am so afraid of the rejection that may come with the applying of a home loan but the prospect of having to go back into the rental market is scary me too.

Crockpot lasagna

Made lasagna in my crockpot today and just came home to enjoy and delicious meal.

It was so nice and the apartment smelt nice as I opened the door.

The soundtrack of my life

I thought I might share my favourite radio station.

Radio station 4BH in Brisbane is my all time favourite station. It plays all the songs that you can sing along to. I just love listening to it in the morning while getting ready. It reminds me of when I was young and there was no morning television and all you had to listen to was the radio.

This is interesting to me as I have just recently bought myself a small crockpot in order to make meal time a lot less fussy. I really like the idea of coming home and finding a meal already cooked for you. It is like have your own personal chef. This blog is helping me along with my own crockpot journey.

Lots of inspirational stuff on this site. I am on an uncluttering journey this year and this is helping me too. One of my biggest uncluttering tasks this year is to get rid of all my paper clutter. I have started my scanning all my teacher resources and hopefully what was three shelves of teacher resources will be contained to one memory stick.
